Women from the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside will join 2,000 others at the Race for Life on 20th June when they will raise money for the Imperial Cancer Research Fund.

The 30 ladies taking part from ULH will be part of a national effort to fund research into cancers affecting women.

Quality Unit administrator Jenny Smaje knows more than most the need for support of the race. “Like most people, I suppose, I didn’t think cancer would affect my family - but shortly after I  ran the race last year my sister was diagnosed.”

Jenny’s 25-year-old daughter Katie, a former staff member at ULH, will run the race alongside her.

The 5km race can be run or walked and some of the ladies plan to take full advantage of this option!

“It’s a great opportunity for our ladies to show their support for a very good cause however fit they are - it’s not just for athletes,” said university press officer Sam Hendley.
