FOOD RESEARCHER TAKES THE CHAIR

 

A leading scientist from Grimsby has been elected chairman of a prestigious group of food technology experts.

 

Professor Tony Taylor, head of the Food Research Centre at the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside, was appointed the new chairman of the Food Commodities and Ingredients Group - a branch of the Society of Chemical Industry - at its annual meeting in London.

 

Professor Taylor came to Grimsby in 1974 and was awarded the Chair of Food Studies at the former University of Humberside in 1992.

 

His major research interests are fish-related and he has travelled extensively to research and teach in south-east Asia, Africa, Europe and the United States. Professor Taylor has just accepted an invitation to lecture and carry out research in China.
