24th May 1999

John Godber’s comic two-hander ‘September in the Rain’ will be staged at Lincoln’s university campus next week (Friday 4th June 1999).

Boston-based drama group Wyberton Theatrical Society are taking their latest production on tour after playing to rave reviews at Blackfriars Arts Centre in their home town.

When they take to the stage as Jack and Liz, the proud Yorkshire collier and his long-suffering wife, actors Marilyn Read and Mick Broadhurst will be breaking new ground on two fronts.

‘September in the Rain’ will be the first production WTS has ever staged in Lincoln - and it will also be the first time the university’s main TV studio has been used as a venue for live drama.

“We’re really looking forward to coming to Lincoln,” said Marilyn, who is the chairman of the society as well as one of the stars of the play. “The play is heart-warming and rib-tickling by turns and we’re sure the people of Lincoln will enjoy it.”

‘September in the Rain’ play traces the course of the marriage of Jack and Liz as seen on a series of stormy holidays in Blackpool.

The performance begins at 7.30pm on Friday 4th June.
