STUDENT BROADCASTER WORKS ON WATER

Stunt-loving student Eric Bauer aims to make a splash tomorrow (Tuesday 18th May) by broadcasting live on the radio from a surf bike on the Brayford.

Eric, an American exchange student at the University of Lincoln, is a presenter on Siren FM, the university’s own radio station.

He also enjoys a challenge, which is why he’ll be bobbing on the waves tomorrow as he links up live with the studio for half an hour around breakfast time.

“The surf bike is a bit smaller than the MV Communicator which used to broadcast Radio Caroline, but it will actually do ten knots,” joked Andy MacLarty, the station’s programme controller.

“Eric is game for a laugh, so we thought we’d ask him to cycle up and down on the water for half an hour while he’s broadcasting on the Brayford on Toast show.”

Andy hopes Siren FM listeners will call the station on Lincoln 886278 during the next few weeks to set Eric new challenges.

Eric, who’s 21, has come on an exchange from Juniata College, Pennsylvania to study Management, Media and Communications in Lincoln.

Siren FM continues broadcasting in a 15-mile radius around Lincoln until midnight on Friday 28th May. Tune in to the student broadcasters on 87.9FM.
