6th May 1999

An exhibition on the relationship between art and the landscape opened at the European Illustrative Collection Hull gallery on George Street today.

Richard Hollinshead is the only PhD fellow in Sculpture at the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside and is ‘shared’ between the university and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park where his work has also been exhibited.

In his latest sculpture exhibition Reliquary Mr Hollinshead presents his cultural ideas that relate to landscape through the constraints of a gallery environment.

Mr Hollinshead’s work involves large pieces of sculpture with titles such as The Land of the Giants which is made from tree branches, fibreglass, wood, steel and a tarpaulin.

In the autumn the exhibition moves to the Millais Gallery at the Southampton Institute for five weeks.

Reliquary will be on display until 26th May - the EICH gallery is open to the public Monday to Friday between 10am and 4.30pm and admission is free of charge.
