COMMUNITY WORK EXPLORED IN VISIT

The outgoing Mayor of Lincoln Coun Bud Robinson will visit a university department tomorrow which is designed to help community groups manage their projects.

The Community Operational Research Unit (CORU) is hosted by the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside’s Lincoln campus.

Dr Amanda Gregory and her team will talk to Coun Robinson and his wife Ruth about what the research unit can offer the people of the county.

The unit applies its knowledge of management science and systems to assist the organisation of voluntary and community groups who do not have the benefit of this kind of grounding.

Current projects include workshops at Ancaster Day Centre in Lincoln to help design outreach services for people with severe disabilities.

A consortium of city organisations running the Union Learning Fund is being assisted by CORU with evaluation training for their engineering work placements project for young people.

During their visit, Coun and Mrs Robinson will tour the campus including the £11 million Learning Resources and Media Production Centre which opened in October.

Ends
