STUDENT CLAIRE CUTS HER TEETH ON LOCAL PAPER
Budding journalist Claire Doughty is one of five students who have been chosen to produce a regular supplement for a local daily newspaper.
Claire, a first year Journalism student at the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside, will join the editorial team of ‘XS’ when it is relaunched by the Lincolnshire Echo newpsaper.
“This is a great opportunity to get a good start in journalism,” said Claire, who lives in Ashley Way, Northampton, when she’s not at university in Lincoln. “I’m looking forward to working on ‘XS’ and helping to make it a great student read.”
Mike Gubbins, assistant editor of the Lincolnshire Echo, was delighted to have put the student editorial team in place.“The students at the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside will be involved in every aspect of the production of ‘XS’ magazine,” he said.
“It is a great credit to the university that its Journalism students can be used for the production of genuine community newspapers. We hope the relationship between the Lincolnshire Echo and the Journalism course will strengthen and grow as the years go by so that the majority of students have real newspaper and new media experience to add to their excellent academic training.”
