An initiative at the Hull School of Architecture is attracting many people from the city who would not normally attend a university programme.

The University of Lincolnshire & Humberside is offering a range of short courses at the school which are all open to the public.

Evening courses on ‘Style in Design’, the ‘History of Architecture in Hull’ and ‘Self Build Housing’ begin in April and organiser George Clark says the response from local people has been very encouraging.

“The courses are intended to create awareness of the school and its activities, break down barriers between the general public and the university, and offer topics that are of general interest,” said Mr Clark.

Other more specialised courses include lunchtime seminars on the Private Funding Initiative and half-day programmes for the construction industry.
