18th March 1999

Illustration and photography will be on display at the EICH (European Illustration  Collection Hull) Gallery in George Street over the coming months.

From tomorrow (Friday 19th March) until 24th April the Association of Illustrators’ annual exhibition will be on display at the gallery, which is attached to the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside’s School of Architecture building,

The exhibition - in its 23rd year and entitled ‘Images 23’ - will be officially opened to the public between 6pm and 8.30pm on Monday 22nd March 1999.

On 11th June 1999 the centennial exhibition of the Yorkshire Photographic Union will move to the EICH Gallery from the Museum of Film, Photography and Television in Bradford.

The display will celebrate 100 years of professional photography in the Yorkshire region and will remain at the EICH Gallery until 10th July. “The exhibition will only be on show in Bradford and in Hull, so local people really should take the opportunity to see it while it’s on their doorstep,” said gallery manager Kathy Jenkins.

Photographs of the city of Hull will make up the gallery’s third exhibition for 1999. ‘Conservation Camera 2’ is a collection of images of Hull  past and present taken by local photographers.

‘Conservation Camera 2’ can be seen at the EICH Gallery from 16th July until 14th August 1999.

The EICH Gallery is normally open to the public on weekdays from 10am until 4.30pm, and admission is free.
