GRIMSBY ON ‘BEST OF BRITISH’ TOUR

An Indonesian delegation have arrived in Grimsby for tours and talks with lecturers from the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside.

The Fisheries Mission, which is made up of representatives from several Indonesian organisations, are visiting Grimsby as part of a tour of the best Britain has to offer in fishing techniques and food processing technology.

It was an early start for the Mission this morning as they toured Grimsby Fish Market, accompanied by Prof Tony Taylor of the university’s Food Research Centre.

Later on in the day they visited the food laboratories on Nun’s Corner before discussing research currently undertaken by the Faculty of Social and Life Sciences with Dr Peter Quantick.

The busy programme of events continued with a talk on food safety and quality management with Dr Richard Meldrum followed by a look at fish research with Prof Taylor.

The Indonesians left Grimsby in the afternoon to continue their tour of the country, which will include Glasgow, Aberdeen and London.
