URBAN LIVING EXPOSED IN NEW PAPER
The ‘bleak urban wasteland’ of London as featured in Mike Leigh’s film ‘Naked’ will be the subject of an academic paper to be delivered in Dublin by a lecturer from the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside.
Mike Mason, senior lecturer in Media Theory, will attend the Cinema in the City conference in Dublin from 12-15 March to present his paper - Social Realist Dystopia: The Urban Wasteland in Mike Leigh’s Naked.
The film tells the story of a cynical and disillusioned young man living in the capital, and is set against the kind of bleak backdrop often used in so-called ‘kitchen sink’ domestic dramas.
