The first PhD of its kind to be gained at the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside was achieved by an award-winning professor yesterday.

Over his career Prof Brent Davies has written 11 books and 50 articles on education leadership, and he recently caused controversy with his idea for a five- term school year.

For the last three years Prof Davies has been working on a PhD which involved submitting a portfolio of his publications. His total publications add up to more than half a million.

Im absolutely delighted to have the PhD and after three years, very relieved, said Prof Davies, who is part of the International Educational Leadership Centre at the Lincoln campus.

In April Prof Davies will receive an award from MCB University Press for the most outstanding paper published in the 1998 volume of the International Journal of Educational Management.
