STUDENT KRIS CUTS HIS TEETH ON LOCAL PAPER
Budding journalist Kris Kowalewski is one of five students who have been chosen to produce a regular supplement for a local daily newspaper.
Kris, a first year Journalism student at the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside, will join the editorial team of ‘XS’ when it is relaunched by the Lincolnshire Echo newspaper.
“It’s a great opportunity for me,” said Kris, who lives in Dunchurch Close, Redditch, when he’s not at university in Lincoln. “I’ve done a few weeks’ work experience in the past but this is the first major offer I’ve received.
“I’m really looking forward to working on ‘XS’ - it’s a foot in the door which I hope will lead to bigger and better things.”
Mike Gubbins, assistant editor of the Lincolnshire Echo, was delighted to have put the new editorial team in place. “The students at the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside will be involved in every aspect of the production of ‘XS’ magazine,”
“It is a great credit to the university that its Journalism students can be used for the production of genuine community newspapers. We hope the relationship between the Lincolnshire Echo and the Journalism course will strengthen and grow as the years go by so that the majority of students have real newspaper and new media experience to add to their excellent academic training.”
