Changing attitudes to death and dying were explored at a special open day at the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside.

More than 50 doctors, counsellors, university staff, humanists and local people got together at the Cottingham Road campus to exchange ideas about bereavement and the unknown question of death itself.

Papers were given by Stephen Conway from the Department of Applied Social Science on changing social attitudes, and by former member of the department Jenny Hockey on the role of the clergy.

Mr Conway said: “The event was a great success and will help to raise the profile of the university with people from the local community who are interested in this fundamentally important area.”
