5th January 1999

Around eighty members of U3A (the University of the Third Age) met at the Lincoln campus of the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside this morning (5/1/99) to hear a lecture entitled ‘In the Footsteps of St Cuthbert’.

The talk was given in the university’s Jackson Lecture Theatre by Navenby couple Peter and Sheila Gill and explained how the seventh-century monk straddled the Celtic and the Roman tradition in England.

“This is one of the best venues we’ve ever spoken at,” commented Mrs Gill, “and certainly the best in Lincoln.

“I’m sure the university will be a great asset to the county.”

Lincoln U3A boasts 200 members and has a waiting list of twenty because of the difficulties in finding a venue in Lincoln large enough for its meetings.
