A leading academic from the Hull School of Architecture is spending three months as visiting professor at the University of Chiba, near Tokyo.

Prof Ian Colquhoun, Professor of Architecture at the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside, will teach architecture in Japan at postgraduate level until the end of March.

Prof Colquhoun has visited Japan twice before to speak about housing in Britain, and one of his books has been translated into Japanese. The Japanese are particularly interested in the British experience of housing estate regeneration, and Prof Colquhoun will be working in this field with the University of Chiba and the Japanese Housing and Urban Development Corporation, Japanís largest social housing landlord.

The visiting professorship runs from 4th January to 27th March and is being jointly fundedby the British Council and its Japanese equivalent, the Mombusho Foundation.
