UNIVERSITY APPLICATIONS UP 14 PER CENT

The number of students applying to study at the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside is on the increase - and the figures are bucking the national trend which has seen a downturn in applications across the board.

Applications to join the university’s degree and HND courses in the UK and abroad stood at 5,114 on 11th December 1998. This figure represents a 14.23%  increase on last year’s total of  4,477.

The sharp increase in applications is good news for the university’s bosses - and even better news when placed in the national context of an overall drop in the number of students applying for placeson next year’s courses.

This year’s total of 1,166,461 is a 2.94% drop on the figure of 1,201,790 recorded at the same time last year.

“We’re extremely pleased that applications to the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside appear to be running contrary to the national trend,” commented the university’s Pro Vice Chancellor, Derek Crothall.

“We cannot be complacent, however, and we will continue to work hard to persuade students of the many advantages that the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside has to offer.”
