Teaching
David has taught across the Media Production programme from television studio & portable camera film-making, editing & post-production, to radio production. He also co-ordinates the second level unit “Working in the Media Industry” where his twenty years of BBC experience offers students a significant insight into the trends and changes that are occurring in the industry.
Research
David’s research activity combines both the academic study of trends in the Creative Industries, whilst continuing to be a respected practitioner:
His interest in driving the development of the Creative Industry Sector in the region has led to: his involvement in the development of Sparkhouse Studios (new business incubation centre); Chair of Lincoln’s Media Development Agency “The Pool” 2002-4; consultation and support for the development of Siren FM’s 5-year community licence (2007-2012); development of major outreach activities for the University to successfully interact with both wider industry but also the regional community to enhance participation, interaction and access; consultation on Skillset’s regional panel & membership of the CINTIN network.
As a practising post-production Editor, he continues to work for the BBC and other clients on a range of broadcast and corporate productions.
Contributing as an industry practitioner to Minerva Productions, the Faculty of Media, Humanities & Technology’s production arm, for example being co-executive producer and editor of, the University’s 2006 TV advertising campaign, and shortly to edit a 4-year film record of a major Cathedral restoration project.
