Teaching:
Martyn teaches across a range of critical theory and practical units for the Lincoln School of Media undergraduate programs, as well as contributing towards the MA Digital Cultures module. His main research and teaching interests are in digital media, film and television, whilst specialising in the critical analysis of networked media technologies and digital cultures.
Research:
Martyn’s main research focuses on interactive, participatory, digital technologies and practices, exploring the emerging interrelationships between capital, labour, subjectivity and affect which have become prevalent within social media environments. He is an active researcher in his field and is currently embarking on a PhD project which interrogates the nature of subjectivity in online social networking services, representing a critique of wider developments to highly mediated, networked cultures in the context of global capitalism.
