Improve Your Writing - Improve Your Grades!

If you want some free advice, help or guidance with your writing skills, then come and see Michael Blackburn, the Royal Literary Fund Writing Fellow in the Faculty of Media & Humanities.

Michael has been a professional author and poet for more than 25 years. Whether you are in your first year or busy with a postgraduate degree, this is your chance to benefit from his experience and learn some vital, practical tips that will help you with all your written work, both academic and creative.

He can help you with the following:

• improving your overall writing skills and techniques
• demystifying the writing process
• planning and structuring your essays
• organising your written material
• revising your final work
• polishing your personal style.

Please note: Michael is not available to correct, ‘mark’ or proof-read your work.

You can see him on a confidential, one-to-one basis for anything up to an hour at a time. All you need to do is book your session first. If you want to discuss a specific piece of work please drop off a copy of it in advance of your appointment.

LSHPA Subject Librarian

Lesley Church is the Subject Librarian for Humanities (American Studies, Drama, English, History, and Media, Culture and Communications). Lesley is a chartered librarian with a BA in English and MLitt in Middle English Language from the University of Lancaster. As Subject Librarian, Lesley helps students to find and use printed and online resources for their studies through one-to-one support, workshops and information skills teaching sessions. Lesley liaises with the subject departments she supports in order to provide and develop relevant library collections and services for students and staff.
