Welcome
The Lincoln School of Performing Arts is located within the state-of-the-art Lincoln Performing Arts Centre (LPAC). With around 400 students studying Dance and/or Drama at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, the School has developed an integrated approach to teaching that starts with practice and situates learning through theory/practice modules throughout its programmes. At undergraduate level, students typically take three modules per semester and each semester culminates in a Performance Fortnight of assessed practical work, which is open to the public and performed on the LPAC main stage.
New Performing Arts Centre
The Lincoln Performing Arts Centre is a £6 million purpose-built arts centre which runs its own unique programme of public arts events throughout the year ranging from professional touring theatre and dance companies to weekly free live jazz in its bar and café. The Centre includes a 450-seat theatre and three large studio spaces for performance and rehearsal.
Facilities also include rehearsal rooms, dressing rooms and a full workshop for the building of sets and props. Taught modules are supplemented with numerous guest lectures, workshop sessions on practical aspects of theatre (e.g. movement, voice, improvisation, mask work, etc.) and technique classes which are open to all students in the school in any year and from any programme. Both Drama and Dance students work on numerous productions throughout the year both as part of their coursework and as an extracurricular pursuit.
