Welcome to the website of the Association for Learning Development in Higher Education (ALDinHE) ALDinHE is a new membership association for Learning Development professionals, aimed at current subscribers to LDHEN. The association was officially launched at the 2007 LDHEN Symposium, where the inaugural meeting adopted the constitution and elected the first steering group . LDHEN is a professional network for staff in universities and colleges who provide additional support for students to develop their skills for study and their awareness of academic practices. It was established in 2002, beginning life as a JISCmail discussion list, and has evolved into an active group of over 200 practitioners from more than 55 UK universities, united by their interest in and commitment to the development of student learning. The group also has members beyond the UK, in countries such as Ireland, Hong Kong, Germany, Belgium and Australia. There is an annual LDHEN symposium, open to anyone with an interest in the field, which promotes the exchange of materials and ideas, and provides opportunities for colleagues to meet and work with special interest groups. This has also enabled more localised or regional forms of networking and support for members to share their understandings of issues and of good practice in learning development.
