Ted Fuller came to Lincoln as Head of the Business School in 2008, and took up the Faculty Research role in January 2011. He has practiced entrepreneurship in the business and university sectors. In 1968 he started a manufacturing business at the age of 19 with his father. He qualified as a management accountant in 1975 and left his first family business in 1981 to teach in Higher Education after taking a Master’s at the University of Warwick. He spent nearly twenty years at the University of Durham Business School (DUBS), first in the Small Business Centre from which he established two research centres; in Knowledge Systems and later the Foresight Research Centre. He also created a spin off high technology software business in Durham in 1990 from his research in expert systems. Before coming to Lincoln, Ted was Assistant Dean for Enterprise at Teesside Business School.
Teaching
Ted lectures on entrepreneurship, small business management, foresight and research. He is the University champion for Principles of Responsible Management Education.
Research Interests and Expertise
Ted’s research interests relate to the ways in which business and society are sustained through entrepreneurship and innovation. He works with international collaborators on a variety of themes that add to human knowledge. Currently his research includes:
- Theoretical development in small business and entrepreneurship, value creation, futures thinking and foresight
- Empirical studies on sustainability, international entrepreneurship; innovation and value creation in business and society, emergence of disruptive ventures in high velocity sectors
- Strategic studies in Enterprise Futures, i.e. global strategic issues for enterprise policy and entrepreneurship; including emerging technologies, regional policy and social responsibility
