The Centre for Dispute Resolution Compensation & Risk was established in 2008 as part of Lincoln Law School. The Centre has interests in the “compensation culture” and whether this is a myth and species of moral panic or has reality? The Centre is also concerned with the impact of the “compensation culture” on both the public and private sector and whether it has any impact on the delivery of services. The Law and European Governance Research Group is part of Lincoln Law School. It was established in 2005 to support research activity in the two cognate areas of Law and European Policy research. There has long been an interest in European Law and Policy amongst the research active staff of the University. The Law and European Governance Research group supports staff working in its subject area and a research seminar series, a number of publications; conference papers and journal articles on citizenship, Europeanisation of policy, enlargement of the EU, conditions for EU membership EU environmental law and policy and energy and security have been the result. The group also conducts research into European human rights, European consumer law and International trade law.

Civil Liberties and Human Rights are a main focus of research work within the Law School. . Professor Richard Stone, Director of Research within the Law School, leads on this work and his research interests include; the extent to which a person’s home receives or should receive, special protection under the law and the nature and scope of the right to liberty contained in Article 5 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
