Introduction
The
Nineteenth-Century Research Group is an interdisciplinary and
inter-institutional cluster of scholars interested in all aspects of the
‘long’ nineteenth century. It aims to provide a forum for discussions about
research issues, theory and methodology, and to promote opportunities for
collaboration and peer support among its members. It also organises regular
seminars and one-off events such as day conferences. Members come from
disciplinary backgrounds in English, History and Art; Ph.D. students from
these disciplines are also members.

involves looking at some examples of earlier feminist histories (for example

Suffrage (1902)
‘Women and Museums 1850-1914’
