Sally Riggall

Sally joined the Hull School of Health and Social Care in 2005.  Her professional background is in counselling and for many years she taught this subject in the further education sector.  Sally is an experienced counsellor and has maintained her practice by working mainly in the public sector offering counselling to doctors’ patients and local authority employees.

Sally teaches on the BSc in Social Work (both full-time and on the Employment Based Route) and specialises in communications skills.  Her research interest is in applying the Egan Skilled Helper Model as a social work intervention and communication method and she is currently working with a number of students in this investigation.

Sally is also the course tutor for the Certificate in Social Care.  This is a part-time course for people new to study or to social care and the course leads to direct entry onto level two of the BSc in Social Work.  Sally is also an experienced group tutor and believes strongly in helping students to develop their self-esteem and confidence during their time in the university.
