How You Study

Level one

At level one various aspects of the subject are introduced, providing a basic foundation of visual communication and knowledge. Students are introduced to processes and methods appropriate to both photography and moving image.

Level two

At level two students have the opportunity to specialise in either photography or moving image. In combination with their chosen area of specialism, students begin to plan their career development and engage with professional practice in the creative industries.

Level three

At level three, students have the opportunity to produce a major body of work that demonstrates a thorough understanding of their chosen medium. At this level, the programme focuses upon personal expression and career goals. Students in both disciplines work towards a final exhibition of work, portfolio and show-reel, which will equip them for the professional and artistic world.

How You Are Assessed

expand

The programme is assessed on the basis of course work which comprises project work and written submissions and consists of both formative and summative assessment.

Formative

Formative feedback guides you on the process of your work and takes the form of group and individual discussion. Tutor feedback provides students with guidance on their performance during each module.

Summative

Summative assessment occurs at the end of each module. Student work is assessed against clearly defined criteria and learning outcomes. A summative mark is awarded based upon evidence that all criteria have been complied with and all aims and learning outcomes for the assignment have been achieved.
