An NPTC assessment which can be taken on either:
- Pedestrian controlled
- Tractor-mounted
- Self-propelled (ride-on).
The course covers the following aspects:
- Daily maintenance
- Routine safety checks
- Pre-start checks
- Brake operation checks
- Inspection for serviceability
- Ability to convert cutting mechanism
- Check free movement of working parts
- Check and adjust cutting heights
- Check and adjust cutting mechanisms
- Replace blades
- Mow specified area
- Park mower safely
- Clean mower correctly
- Inspect and identify defects
- Undertake end of season maintenance.
The assessment requires a practical demonstration of the candidate’s competence. Underpinning knowledge and understanding will be assessed orally
Requirements:
- Writing materials
- Own PPE to be worn
- 1 passport photo
- Packed lunch, flask tea/coffee (alternatively refreshments can be purchased from the restaurant on campus).
Accommodation is not available on campus but a list of hotels can be provided on request
