Fees: £400 per year
An assessment fee of £42 also applies

This programme is ideal if you have a general interest in gardening, and wish to develop your skills at the same time as gaining a nationally recognised qualification.

Year 1 of this course consists of 5 modules (3 single modules and one double) leading to the RHS Level 2 Certificate in The Principles of Plant Growth, Propagation and Development on completion of 4 modular exams in February and June.

This is a nationally recognised award.

The Certificate carries 14 QCF credits at level 2 and will be made up of the following four modules:

  • Plant classification, structure and function

  • Plant nutrition and the root environment

  • Maintaining plant health

  • Understanding plant propagation.

The above modules will run on Wednesday evenings from 7pm – 9pm. You will also need to attend one Saturday every six weeks (dates will be confirmed upon registration).

To achieve the Certificate, you will be required to undertake written examinations at the end of each module.

We will be offering the RHS Level 2 Certificate in Garden Planning, Establishment and Maintenance from September 2011 on the same basis.

Successful completion of both years will result in your being awarded the RHS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Horticulture.
