This programme aims to give practicing supervisors and team leaders a foundation for formal development and to maximise their contribution to the business.
The programme has two primary objectives:
- To develop basic management skills
- To assist participants to apply these skills in the workplace.
The programme encourages participants to reflect on their role and to examine the skills, knowledge and attitudes required to effectively manage both themselves and others.
By the end of the programme participants will demonstrate a clearer understanding of their role and responsibility, resulting in increased confidence and a clearer awareness of how to motivate and lead others.
The team leader programme is delivered by day release. The needs of the business, the requirements of the individual and the availability of places drive the attendance pattern.
The University of Lincoln will work with the businesses to help assess potential programme members to ascertain which programme (managers or supervisors) will be most appropriate. This ensures that the programmes meet both the business needs and the development needs of the individual.
This programme consists of formal directed learning followed by an assessment which consists of a number of short answer questions. The assessment is related to the workplace and successful completion of the assessment leads to an Introductory Certificate in Team Leading.
