Initial Arboriculture (CS38)

The is a four day course (9am - 5pm), with NPTC assessment on the fifth day. It has been designed for people with little or no experience of working in trees and aims to provide the knowledge and competence in safe climbing techniques and basic operations.
The course will cover:
- Safe practice
- Use of climbing aids
- Use of knots
- Work positioning in the tree
- Use of ropes and harness
- Rescuing an injured climber.
Candidates must be physically fit to meet the demands of this course and be able to climb in excess of 10 metres.
Please bring the following with you:
- 1 passport photograph of yourself
- PPE (helmet with chin strap, boots etc)
- Climbing rope (30m x min 12mm)
- Safety harness with leg straps (full or seat harness). If using a full harness or Willams a Maillon Rapid will be required.
- 2 climbing strops; min 4 Triple-action auto-locking karabiners (not screw gate)
- 2 Prussik loops
- Personal first aid kit.
N.B. Proof of LOLER assessment is required on equipment over six months old.
Accommodation is not available on campus but a list of hotels can be provided on request. Training can also be provided on your own premises.
