MSc Sports Science By Research
MSc 1 - 4 Years School of Sport, Coaching & Exercise Science Lincoln First-class or upper second-class honours degree inSport, Exercise and/or Coaching Science or a related subject
Introduction
Studying for a higher degree by research provides a special sequence of challenges and rewards. It involves devising and conducting an original piece of research under the supervision of staff with expertise in the area chosen.
The advantages of the research degree are that students can become specialised in an area of their choice. They have the opportunity to develop their own ideas and there is a real sense of ownership and achievement in the final product. This approach can prepare graduates well for a career in research and academia.
Teaching & Assessment
This programme requires the presentation of a thesis and an oral examination.
Careers
Typically, graduates go on to take positions as researchers or academics in institutes of higher education. However, many have used the experience for personal development and have gone on to take jobs in sports-related commerce or the health professions.
Entry Requirements
A first-class or upper second-class honours degree in Sport, Exercise and/or Coaching Science or a related subject would normally be expected for entry to postgraduate research study. However, all applications are considered on an individual basis of their work and other life experiences through the University's Accreditation of Prior Experience Learning procedures.
