MSc Sports Development by Research
MSc 1 - 4 Years School of Sport, Coaching & Exercise Science Lincoln First-class or upper second-class honours degree inSport, Exercise and/or Coaching Science or a related subject
Introduction
The active research base in the School ensures that staff are involved in current debates and that students are made aware of new developments and issues in the field of sports development.
As a research student they will identify an area of personal interest and academic relevance. They then work closely with a tutor to develop an approved programme of research. This is supported by a programme of research training.
Teaching & Assessment
Research students on the MSc Sports Development usually have two internal supervisors with specialist knowledge of their subject areas and have regular meetings with them for advice, monitoring and other support. Where appropriate, additional advisors may also be utilised.
All programmes require the presentation of a thesis and an oral examination.
Links With Industry
Research students also contribute to the School’s internal seminar series and may also be able to contribute to undergraduate teaching.
Careers
Graduates often take roles as researchers or academics in higher education environments or engage in sports clubs or businesses. Some graduates go into commerce or the health professions.
Entry Requirements
A first-class or upper second-class honours degree in Sport, Exercise and/or Coaching Science or a related subject would normally be expected for entry to postgraduate research study. However, all applications are considered on an individual basis of their work and other life experiences through the University's Accreditation of Prior Experience Learning procedures.
