Undertaking a Research degree presents students with new challenges, from discovering what skills are required of a researcher to surviving your doctoral viva. The University offers all graduate research students help with a variety of formal and informal programmes and courses.

The Reserach Skills Development Programme

The Graduate School, to which as a postgraduate student you are automatically enrolled, offers an informal programme of research training courses for all postgraduate students.

The purpose of the Programme is to provide you with the opportunity to expand your generic research skills and personal transferable skills. These skills are intended to help your research at the University of Lincoln and to enhance your life skills and employability. All courses, including electronic courses, are available to you free of charge.

MRes Master of Research

The University offers a Master of Research (MRes) programme which is tailored to personal requirements. The MRes is a flexible programme of taught research training for recent graduates, lecturers or practitioners whose work requires application of specialist research skills. The MRes may also act as the preliminary stage for the completion of an MPhil or PhD. The programme takes 1 year full-time or two/three years part-time to complete.
