MPhil/PhD Nutrition - Research Opportunities

MPhil/PhD MPhil 18months full-time 30 months part-time, PhD 33 months full-time 60 months part-time School of Life Sciences Lincoln BSc or Masters degree or equivalent professional experience

Introduction

The academic staff of the Department are interested in a wide range of aspects of Nutrition Science. These include research into nutrients, nutraceuticals and supplements through to the effects of diet on health. The group has strong links with the Lincolnshire Health Authority and have research partners in Greece, Hungary, Spain and France.

Research Topics for 2009-2010

  • Effects of macronutrient composition of the diet on satiety and weight loss
  • Effect of dietary composition on risk factors for diet related diseases
  • Effect of serum vitamin K concentration on cancer
  • Quality of the diet of groups within society
  • Pre and probiotics antioxidant nutrients in foods
  • Effects of processing and storage on nutritional quality of foods
  • Nutrient/functional constituents of herbal supplements and foods

We are also happy to consider project titles proposed by applicants.
