The School of Engineering is a Centre of Industrial Research and Development Excellence, staffed by academics and associated researchers with significant and long-standing track records in attracting funding for, and delivering world class R&D. Our expertise centres on the core disciplines of:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Combustion Engineering
- Electrical and Electronic Engineering
- Control and Systems Engineering
- Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering
- Laser Materials Processing.
Teaching
Research students will be allocated two academic supervisors and the Faculty Research Degrees Board will monitor their progress. Students will be encouraged to participate in our research seminar series and in the University’s Graduate School and its graduate training programmes. We will support students in applying for funding to attend conferences, and to publish their work in conference proceedings and refereed journals.
The support students will receive should not only result in the attainment of a research degree, but also enable them to go on to develop a career as a professional engineer in a senior role.

Facilities
The £37m School of Engineering development includes the state-of-the-art education enterprise and research facility located on the main campus of the University. The building boasts a range of engine and gas turbine facilities and workshops which are all fully equipped and designed for industrial engagement as well as additional lecture theatres, seminar rooms and project laboratories.
Siemens have co-located their product training facility in custom designed locations within the build. This has cemented links between Siemens and the University of Lincoln for both teaching and research in many fields of Engineering.
