MA Advanced Performance Practice
MA 1 Year Full-time, 2 Years Part-time Lincoln School of Performing Arts Lincoln By interview, and a good honours degree or relevant experienceIntroduction
Advanced Performance Practice is an MA programme designed specifically for recent graduates and early to mid-career artists interested in developing their performance making through a professionally orientated academic framework. Throughout the course, students will create performance work in studio and non-studio environments, developing their existing skills in diverse and rigorous performance contexts. From the students' own practical study comes the opportunity to define their practice in an environment which responds to the ambitions of a professional performance practitioner.
This unique programme provides artists with the space to advance their work in a robust academic context, while enabling them to make a critically responsive transition, through doing, into the field of professional performance practice. Supporting this transition is the final module of the course, Professional Platform, which introduces students to programmers, presenters and key arts organisations on a regional and national level. The programme is delivered by a team of practising theatre makers, artists and scholars who have ongoing experience of making internationally recognised performance.
Aims
This practice-driven programme aims to launch performance makers into professional settings with a range of critical, conceptual and analytical skills which complement and strengthen their maturing artistic practice.
Careers
Graduates from the MA in Advanced Performance Practice will be ideally situated to work as professional makers on an independent or collaborative basis, in addition to being well placed for practice-as-research doctoral studies.
