Apprenticeship Land-based Engineering Level 2 (Work-based)

Apprenticeship 12 – 18 months Agriculture, Equine and Riseholme College Riseholme - Lincoln Candidates must be at least 16 years of age on application, and be in full-time employment in a relevant industry. Apprentices will undergo an initial assessment to make sure they are capable of achieving the outcomes.

Introduction

The Apprenticeship programme reflects your chosen career path and the particular branch of industry in which you work. There are options in agricultural or horticultural machinery. Pathways may be chosen to match your employer requirements. During your training, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in a broad range of areas relevant to the particular branch of industry in which you work.

Entry Requirements

What Will You Study?

Level 2 Apprenticeship units may include:

  • Health and Safety
  • Mechanical principles
  • Engine and transmission systems
  • Service and repair techniques
  • Introduction to workshop practice
  • Preparing machinery for use
  • Welding and fabrication
  • Providing customer care
  • A range of optional units.

How Will You Be Assessed?

Training is work-based, with ongoing practical assessments in your workplace and you will spend one day a week at College in classroom based lectures and tutorials. You will keep a portfolio of evidence of your practical ability, which will be regularly reviewed. Your progress through the programme is monitored continuously to ensure that you maximise your potential by building on existing skills and developing new ones.

What Can You Do After The Course?

Students completing the Level 2 Apprenticeship will have the opportunity to progress to a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship or a full-time land–based engineering course.
