Extended Diploma 2 Years Agriculture, Equine and Riseholme College Riseholme - Lincoln 4 GCSE’s at grade C or above to include English and Maths

Introduction

Previously National Diploma in Agriculture, the Extended Diploma in Agriculture is suitable for people who wish to find employment on farms, or in machinery dealerships or manufacturers, where an in-depth knowledge of various types of farming enterprises and machinery is required.

Entry Requirements

A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade C or above to include English and Maths or a Level 2 / First Diploma with a merit profile in a related discipline. You must also demonstrate a good standard of literacy and numeracy. All applicants must be at least 16 years of age on entry. Applicants with suitable industrial experience or background will also be considered.

You will undertake a period of industrial work experience during the course, which will help you to better understand your chosen industry, and utilise your skills and knowledge gained. You will be encouraged to find your own placement, but we will support you in this where required. 

How Will You Be Assessed?

Classroom based lectures are used along with directed study to underpin the knowledge and skills learned during practical sessions. Your progress will be monitored continuously throughout the programme, as there are no examinations at the end of the year.

You will be assessed via the following means:

  • Written assignments
  • Practical assessments
  • Case studies.

Tutorial sessions are used to feedback on your progress.

What Can You Do After The Course?

What can you do after the course?

Successful students have usually, sometimes after a further period in industry, found positions of a supervisory, managerial or technical nature on farms and in related industries such as machinery dealerships and manufacturers, chemicals, fertilisers, seed merchants and livestock markets.
