Information and advice for prospective students from Vietnam

As one of the UK’s leading modern universities, students from more than 100 countries apply to the University of Lincoln each year for degree level studies.

To help you prepare, the following information provides guidance on the entrance requirements you will need to meet, alongside further information in support of your application.

Entry Requirements

Prospective students from Vietnam are required to meet the following University of Lincoln entrance requirements:

Foundation Entry

Students who have successfully completed Year 12 with an average grade of 6.0 and a minimum grade of 6.0 in maths and science may be eligible for entry onto a Lincoln International Study Centre Foundation Programme.

For students who successfully complete Year 12 with a minimum grade of 6.5, it may be possible to enter onto a Lincoln International Study Centre International Year One course.

Undergraduate Entry

Students require one of the following qualifications:

  • Successful completion of an International Foundation programme
  • Between 27 and 34 International Baccalaureate (IB) points depending on the course you wish to apply for. Specific information on IB requirements can be found on individual undergraduate course pages.

Advanced Entry (Undergraduate)

Depending on your academic background and intended course of study, it may be possible to apply for advanced entry into year two or three of an undergraduate course. For more information, please contact the International Admissions team: intadmissions@lincoln.ac.uk.

Postgraduate Entry

Masters

Entry requirements for postgraduate (master degree) programmes vary by course although typically range from a GPA of 6.5 to 7.0.

Specific information on postgraduate entry requirements can be found on the individual programme pages.

For comparison purposes, a GPA of 6.5 is the equivalent of a 2:2 honours degree. A GPA of 7.0 is the equivalent of a 2:1 honours degree

PhD

Successful completion of a Masters Degree

English Language Requirements

Students require a minimum IELTS of 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in each band score) or equivalent. Please note that some courses require a higher score.

Students who do not meet the above English language requirements may be eligible for entry onto a Pre Sessional English and Academic Study Skills (PEASS) course.

Fees and Funding

Tuition Fees

University of Lincoln students are required to pay tuition fees for each year of their course. Further information regarding tuition fees, fee status and how to pay can be found on our International Tuition Fees page.

Scholarships

Each year, we are delighted to award a number of scholarships to academically gifted students from across Vietnam. Depending on your academic ability and intended programme of study, there are a range of scholarships which may be available.

For 2018/19, the following scholarships are available to suitably qualified students from Vietnam:


Undergraduate Scholarships

  • £2,000 Undergraduate Scholarships available to students enrolling onto the first year of an undergraduate degree*
  • £1,000 Scholarships available to students entering onto an undergraduate final year ‘top up’ programme (e.g. year 3 entry)*

 

Postgraduate Scholarships

  • £2,000 Global Merit Scholarships available to students enrolling onto a postgraduate (taught or masters by research) programme with a minimum GPA of 6.5 (or equivalent)*
  • £5,000 Vietnam Merit Scholarships available to students with a minimum GPA of 7.0**

*This is an automatic scholarship which will be awarded to you if you meet the requirements.

**A scholarship application must be submitted in order to apply for the scholarship

As an international student, you may be eligible for additional grants, bursaries or scholarships from external organisations. For further information, please visit the British Council’s Education UK website.
