International Scholarships

The University of Lincoln offers a number of scholarships (detailed below) to provide international students with financial assistance. See the information below for details of funding that may be available to you.
You are advised to apply as early as possible to avoid disappointment on these limited offers.
You should make clear in your original application what your sources of funding are and whether you wish to be considered for a University of Lincoln International Scholarship and or Special Criteria Scholarship.
University of Lincoln International and Special Criteria Scholarships are only available for self-financing students who pay the full tuition fees.
Current offer holders will be notified of the University of Lincoln International Scholarships and where relevant encouraged to apply.
New! University of Lincoln International Scholarships
180 scholarships are now available to new self-financing, full-time international undergraduate and postgraduate students starting their programmes at the University in September 2010.
International students are recognised as permanently resident in a country outside the European Union (EU).
These scholarships will be to the value of £2000 which will be credited to your tuition fee account.
University of Lincoln International Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of outstanding academic achievement and potential. Each scholarship will be for one year only.
Application Process
All international undergraduate and postgraduate applicants will automatically be considered for a University of Lincoln International Scholarship. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of outstanding academic achievement and potential.
Normally students will be advised if they are being awarded a scholarship with their offer of a place, though in some circumstances the scholarship offer may be sent later.
Any award made to an applicant holding a conditional offer will be subject to the conditions being met in full. There is no separate scholarship application process.

New! International Special Criteria Scholarships
The University is delighted to announce an additional range of Special Criteria Scholarships to International undergraduate or postgraduate students starting their programmes in September 2010.
The Special Criteria Scholarships include as follows:
- Vice Chancellor’s Prize to the value of £1200
(Deadline passed, this scholarship is now closed) - Faculty Champion Prize to the value of £3000
(Deadline passed, this scholarship is now closed) - Alumni Scholarship to the value of £3000
- Sibling Scholarship to the value of £1200

Application Process
Special Criteria Scholarships will be awarded by direct contact and liaison with the International Office.
Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of outstanding academic achievement and potential.
Normally students will be advised if they are being awarded a scholarship with their offer of a place, though in some circumstances the scholarship offer may be sent later.
Any award made to an applicant holding a conditional offer will be subject to the conditions being met in full. There is no separate scholarship application process.
Deferring your place
If an applicant finds it necessary to defer his or her application to the next academic year, then the scholarship award will not automatically be deferred. In this situation the applicant should contact the International Office who will confirm whether the scholarship will be available the following year.

Sports Scholarship
The University of Lincoln is committed to raising the standard of University sport and a bursary scheme has been established to support athletes in their pursuit of excellence. The bursary scheme will provide access to funding, alongside sport science support from experts in their field. This will be facilitated through the University’s state-of-the-art Human Performance Centre and the impressive on campus sport facilities. The bursary system intends to attract talented sport performers who will enhance the success of the University.
The Sports Bursary scheme aims to realise the individual’s potential both as an academic and as an elite sports performer.
Eligibility and selection criteria
Athletes who are eligible to apply and who may be entitled to bursary support must meet the following criteria:
- You must fulfil the normal academic requirements of the course that you are applying for.
- You would normally participate in a sport that is recognised by Sport England and currently be performing at a National or International level, or be able to demonstrate strong evidence that you have the potential to achieve this standard
- You should be enthusiastically committed to representing the University of Lincoln and supporting student sport through the AU.
- You must be prepared to fulfil an ambassadorial role for the University of Lincoln.
What the Athlete Receives
For sports people meeting the criteria there is up to £1,000 per annum (£1000, £750 and £500 normally) available. In addition to this the performer will receive additional benefits that include:
- Normally there is an option for a place in Halls of Residence for each year of study. It is the student’s responsibility to inform estates of their intention to remain in Halls by December.
- Sport Science support including exercise testing, strength and conditioning, nutritional advice and lifestyle management, a standing charge of 20% of your grant will be allocated to this resource, including gym membership of the University Gym.
- The means to facilitate injury and rehabilitation if required.
- The provision for academic flexibility to support sport representation (at a University, National or International level).
