Intelligent Systems Group

The group's diverse activity encompasses fundamental and applied research in Advanced Control & Diagnostics, Dynamic System Modelling, Image & Signal Processing, System Optimization and Human-Machine Interaction, including applications including automotive, aerospace, gas turbines, agri-food and healthcare.

Automotive research is focused on intelligent vehicles and automation, and makes use of advanced control techniques applied to crash avoidance technologies. We have a strong collaboration with international universities, including Chalmers University (Sweden) and Tongji University (China) as well as international industrial partnerships.

Aerospace research includes real-time optimization of airport ground movements, with collaborations including Cranfield University and Beijing Capital International Airport.

Industrial control applications include remote diagnostics for industrial gas turbine engines, working closely with Siemens.
