Organic Synthesis Research Areas

Our research interests lie in the field of organic synthesis, utilising our expertise in four key areas:

  • Total Synthesis of Complex Natural Products
  • Application of Click Chemistry in Biological and Material Science
  • Biomimetic Synthesis
  • Chemical Methodologies.

Our current research interests focus on:

  • Targeting Helicase-Primase: a fragment based approach towards new inhibitors of herpes-simplex virus
  • Total synthesis of natural and non-natural products which are biologically relevant
  • The design and synthesis of novel molecular scaffolds as potential drug targets, utilising the well-developed ‘click-chemistry’ technique
  • Developing new chemical methodologies to help gain easy access to complex natural products.
