Future 2.0, the University of Lincoln’s extraordinary one-day showcase of space-age technology, pioneering research and futuristic fun, is returning to the University of Lincoln for its third year on November 8th.

What is Future 2.0

Inspired by the epic film franchise Star Wars, Future 2.0 offers you a chance to immerse yourself in futuristic virtual reality worlds, discover the latest advances in consumer technology, and meet the University’s growing ensemble of cutting-edge robots.

Here at the University of Lincoln, we are forward- thinking and proud to be at the forefront of research in robotics, games computing, media, art and science. Some of our world-leading academics specialising in these areas are here today to showcase their research but also let you experience the technologies they are using on a day-to-day basis.

Interactive Zone

Get hands-on with the latest in virtual reality technology to cutting-edge robotics, see how much scientific innovation has transformed the way we live and will shape our future.

Robot Wars Zone

Whether you are a budding engineer or a robot fanatic, join our maker zone and try your hand at completing one of our robot building kits. Will it be good enough to enter the Robot Wars arena to compete? Here you can watch as our amateur robot fighting enthusiasts battle it out over a series of rounds in a purpose-built arena, in order to become the Robot Wars Champion.

Gaming Zone

Three lost Stormtroopers find themselves in the galaxy- which one will return first? Race your Stormtrooper through the galaxy against two of your friends in this interactive race game featuring mounted bicycles and television screens wrapped in a Stormtrooper helmet.

Stage Combat

Unleash your inner Luke Skywalker and learn how the best battles are fought with lightsabres.

Space Zone

The Space Zone is the perfect opportunity to learn about space and the technologies that are used to help us understand more about what is going on 380,000 feet above our heads.

Movie Maker Zone

From concept to screen. Get an insight into the various stages of the production that your favourite character, vehicle, creature, location, or scene of the Star Wars saga had to undergo before arriving on the silver screen.
