Careers & Employability at Lincoln
Our Commitment to You
While you are at the University of Lincoln, you will have different services at your disposal that will help you best prepare for your future career.
The Careers & Employability team is here to offer you experience, projects, training and advice to ensure that you identify your career aims and maximise your potential.
The Graduate Career You Want
Our careers service offers a dedicated team of qualified advisors who can provide you with all the individual support and information you need when considering your future.
The service works closely with regional and national employers, organising a wide range of activities and workshops throughout the year. These include job hunting workshops, employer mentoring schemes, careers fairs and employer presentations, all in addition to linking you to graduate positions.
Starting a Business
If you dream of starting your own business when you graduate, Sparkhouse, the University’s award-winning business incubation centre, is the ideal place to develop your ideas in a supportive environment.
The centre provides office accommodation, support through the centre management team and links to other agencies and professional services.
Graduate Internships
Graduate internships are an increasingly popular way of launching your career. Working as an intern in a firm for a set amount of time after graduation boosts confidence and workplace skills and is a great way of making valuable contacts in your chosen profession. Lincoln graduates are linked to companies who offer these opportunities and are provided with practical support on how to get an internship.
Earn While You Study
The Job Shop is the place to go if you need to find work while you study. In partnership with the Students’ Union, it provides a central point on campus for employers to advertise paid positions and work experience opportunities. The Job Shop also provides support to help you secure a job, allowing you to enhance your employability skills while you earn.
Undergraduate Project Placements
The University’s Research and Enterprise team provides opportunities for students to work on real projects with a significant purpose. Students are matched with specific companies to enhance their future career prospects.
Mentoring Scheme
We recognise the importance of producing graduates who are highly employable. Listening to and involving the people that already have the skills and knowledge is increasingly important for the successful transition of our graduates. Our Mentoring Scheme links our students with employers to ensure they know what employers in their area of interest are looking for.
Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Society
The University of Lincoln’s enterprise and entrepreneurship society runs events on a fortnightly basis throughout term time to help students and graduates learn about business and the benefits of self employment.
Led by professionals from industry, hands-on workshops give students a chance to put into practice some of the theories they are being taught. Alongside this, monthly social events offer an opportunity for students and graduates to network with local businesses.
