on 01522 - 870010, students can also contact NHS Direct for health advice at all
times on 0845 4647.

immediately call an emergency ambulance by dialling 999, followed by a call to
advise the on-site Security Office on 01522 886062. (n.b. please remember to
bring your medical card with you)
Disability Services – Dart
University life is full of new experiences, and you cannot always predict
what they are going to be. If you have a disability, specific learning
difference, a medical or mental health condition, some of these new experiences
could have additional challenges and it may be helpful to know that the
university has a dedicated team. The Disability Service - Dart, are here to
offer you information, advice and guidance on any disability related issue you
may have.
Security
All university-owned accommodation is fitted with secure locking systems
designed to provide as much security as possible. However, such system can only
be maintained with the assistance of those persons resident within the building.
Therefore:
- ALWAYS MAKE SURE THE BUILDING ACCESS DOOR IS CLOSED AFTER ENTERING
OR LEAVING THE BUILDING.
- ALWAYS LOCK THE APARTMENT DOOR WHEN LEAVING (IT CAN BE HELPFUL TO
KEEP APARTMENTS LOCKED AT ALL TIMES)
- KEEP YOUR ROOM DOOR LOCKED. (LOST KEYS MUST BE REPORTED TO THE
ACCOMMODATION SERVICE) REPLACEMENT KEYS WILL BE CHARGED FOR!
- KEEP WINDOWS LOCKED WHEN YOU ARE AWAY FROM THE ROOM.
Should any resident student have any queries over the security of themselves
or their possessions then they should contact the Accommodation Service as soon
as possible.
Safety equipment and alarms
The University is expected by law to maintain fire fighting equipment and
alarms in all residences. Malicious misuse of such will incur financial
penalties and disciplinary action where appropriate.
In circumstances where no person or persons accept responsibility for such
dangerous acts then the costs and charges will be recovered from all residents
in the building where the action took place.
Catered Halls - Riseholme Park Campus Only
Catered Halls provide a half board package (breakfast and evening meal) .
Meals are taken in the Restaurant on campus by use of a meals pass which is
issued to each student with their keys.
Counselling
Whilst many of the problems first year students encounter are accommodation
related and therefore may be resolved in conjunction with Residence staff, some
problems may require more professional help. Please do not hesitate to contact
the University's Counselling Service if you require their help. The counselling
service is located with the Student Services Department of the University.
