Giving to the University of Lincoln
"We make a living from what we get, but we make a life by what we give." - Winston Churchill
Make a Gift
The University of Lincoln was founded with the generous support of the people and businesses of Lincolnshire and hundreds of individual donors and friends.
Today, financial support from our alumni and other friends continues to play a vital role in the University’s present and its future, helping to inspire generations of graduates and to encourage research that is changing the world.
Your support makes a difference in so many ways – from providing scholarships, bursaries and prizes or funding vital research projects. From buying a book to funding a new lecture theatre or sponsoring a cultural event – every penny makes a real difference.
Organisations and individuals support the University of Lincoln for many reasons. Some give because they appreciate the economic and social benefits that we generate; some give in gratitude for the transformational experience the University has provided to them or their family. Others want to encourage and inspire others to achieve their full potential.
Whatever the reason you may decide to give to the University of Lincoln, we are grateful for every gift and pleased to recognise your support.
There are a number of education and research projects that you may consider supporting, and there are a variety of ways you can give to them.

Gift Aid Your Support!
The Gift Aid scheme increases the value of donations made to the University by individual who pay UK tax.
To apply Gift Aid to your donation, you sign a form prepared by the University of Lincoln in which you confirm that you pay UK tax. The University of Lincoln receives your donation – which is money you’ve already paid tax on – and reclaims the basic rate tax from HMRC on its ‘gross’ equivalent – the amount before basic rate tax was deducted. This means that your donation is worth more to the University of Lincoln that the value of the gift you made originally, but there is no extra cost for you.
Basic rate tax is 20 %. This means that if you give £10 using Gift Aid, it’s worth £12.50 to the University of Lincoln.
For a basic rate taxpayer (20%):
If you give: £1000
The University of Lincoln receives: £1,250
Higher rate tax payers can also claim back the difference between the higher rate of tax (40% or 50%) and the basic rate of tax (20%) on the total gross value of your donation to the University of Lincoln. You can make this claim on your Self Assessment tax return.
For a Higher Rate (40%) tax payer:
If you give: £1,000
The University of Lincoln receives: £1,250
Tax you can reclaim: £250
Net cost of your gift: just £750
