Claire qualified from the University of Glasgow Veterinary School in July 1999. Since then, she has worked in several areas of veterinary medicine, including: animal charity work; emergency medicine; small animal practice and veterinary behaviour referral practice.

Whilst continuing to work part-time as a small animal veterinary surgeon, Claire embarked on the M Phil/ PhD programme at the University of Lincoln in April 2003.
The title of her project is ‘to determine the role of owner expectation in development of a successful human: dog bond’. Claire hopes to investigate the elements that ensure longevity and success in the human: dog bond despite the trials and tribulations that dog ownership can sometimes entail.

I started lecturing part- time, teaching the Animal Welfare Science Course, at Riseholme in 2006.
I am currently the Membership Secretary of the Companion Animal Behaviour Therapy Study Group (CABTSG: www.cabtsg.org.uk ).
I have lectured at conferences and seminars, in both the UK and Europe on: 'The Role of Veterinary Behavioural Medicine in Practice', the 'Advantages & Disadvantages of Dog Ownership' and 'why would a dog lover not own a dog'?
