CAWPS The Centre for Animal Welfare and Para-veterinary Sciences (CAWPS) was established by the university in 2005 in recognition of the research focus based within the Department of Biological Sciences. The Department had already established a strong record in fundamental and applied research which deepens our understanding of biological processes relevant to animal health, welfare and management. The creation of this research centre, aims to strengthen this further by encouraging collaborations that link genes through to organismal function and welfare, and the impact of animals on society and social policy. CAWPS by its nature is interdisciplinary, and staff with different skills provide different opportunities for developing our knowledge of animal welfare and para-veterinary science. Below staff are listed according their general areas of expertise
