Some of these courses are run by the Department of Agriculture and Land-based Sciences.


This programme aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to gain the AMTRA Professional Certificate, leading to inclusion on the register of suitably qualified persons (SQPs). Once qualified, SQPs are eligible to authorise the sale of medicines classified as POM-VPS and NFA-VPS.
This course, leading to the BASIS Certificate in Soil & Water Management, looks at how farmers can manage these two vital resources in a sustainable way. Particular emphasis is placed on understanding the implications of Cross Compliance, Environment Schemes and the Water Framework Directive.
A full BASIS certificate course which covers all aspects of crop protection decision making, including field use, storage, application and environmental impact. Popular with advisors, agronomists, farmers and farm managers.
A full BASIS certificate course which concentrates on field vegetables, with the main focus on brassicas, potatoes, carrots, lettuce, onions and leeks.. Suitable for advisors, agronomists, farmers and managers or vegetable units.
This course looks at methods used to protect and enhance biodiversity in the context of sustainable farming and best practice in the use of crop protection.
The University of Lincoln's Equine Department is a BHS Approved Training Centre up to BHS Stage 4 and a BHS exam centre. The stage courses are preparation courses for those who wish to go on to take the BHS Horse Knowledge & Care and Riding exams, and are not a qualification in their own right.

Candidates will gain practical knowledge that they will then be able to apply to the grooming of a range of dogs. Successful candidates often pursue careers in dog grooming
This is a five-day course (9.00-6.30), running at various times throughout the year, aimed at anyone who is interested in dog and cat grooming. The course will cover the basic skills of the groomer with demonstrations and practical sessions during the day and lectures after dinner in the evening.
This course, leading to the BASIS PPA award, examines the nature of pesticides and their role within integrated pest management systems. Also provides an update on legislation and environmental issues.
